Funeral services for Mrs. Kathryn Grace Fornea will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 11, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Dry Prong with Reverend Lloyd Whitman officiating. Interment will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2012 in The Old Fornea Cemetery in Varnado, Louisiana under the direction of Rush Funeral Home in Pineville.
Mrs. Fornea, age 75, of Dry Prong, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Riverside Hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana. She was born to Mr. and Mrs. Perry Givens on September 14, 1936. After graduating from Bogalusa High School, she worked as a telephone operator in a department store in Baton Rouge and later at the Army Security Headquarters in Arlington, Virginia after marrying her husband. She also worked as a real estate agent in Arkansas and Texas.
Katherine loved the Lord and was active in the church until her health began to fail her. When her grandsons were small she loved reading the Bible, sharing Bible stories, and singing hymns to them.
She is preceded in death by her son and only child, “Little Bill” Fornea who passed away on January 25, 2012 at the age of 53. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Perry Givens and three sisters, Estelle Copes, Francis Burt, and Anita Parker.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Walter “Bill” Fornea of Dry Prong; one daughter-in-law, Carolina Fornea; and two grandsons that she loved very much, Russ and J. Fornea.
Pallbearers will be J. Fornea, Russ Fornea, J. B. Mercer, Gary Woodard, Sonny Sewart, and Dlord Brunson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Krate’s Sunday School Class, William Fornea, Bob Williams, Buddy Fornea, and Alvin Burt.
Friends may call at First Baptist Church of Dry Prong on Thursday, May 10, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday, May 11, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Friends may also visit at The United Methodist Church in Varnado, Louisiana on Saturday, May 12, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made in Kathryn’s name to M. D. Anderson Cancer Center of Houston, Texas or First Baptist Church of Dry Prong.
