Funeral services for Mrs. Lela J. Gordy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 20, 2012 at Laurel Hill Baptist Church, LaCamp, Louisiana with Rev. Tom Carpenter officiating. Interment will be held in Laurel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, LaCamp, Louisiana, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home in Pineville.

Mrs. Gordy of Alexandria, entered eternal rest on Thursday, August 16, 2012 following a brief illness, at The Guest House Nursecare Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was born in Hicks, Louisiana on January 19, 1916 and resided many years in Alexandria, Louisiana. At the age of 96, Lela was the eldest member of the congregation at Laurel Hill Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Alice Jeter, pioneer residents of Vernon Parish.

She is survived by two sons, W.G. “Duffy” Gordy (Linda), Roy Gordy (Patricia) of Leesville; one daughter, Mary Ann Butler (Melvin) of Shreveport; one sister, Mrs. Selma Boswell of Otis; grandchildren, Darrell Gordy (Tammy) of New Iberia, Stephen Gordy (Sheila) of Hineston, David Gordy of Leesville, Rene Pelliccio (Joe), Joe Gordy (Debbie) and Jeannie Coulter, all of Shreveport; also survived by eleven great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Joe Gordy, Darrell Gordy, Stephen Gordy, David Gordy, Joe Pelliccio, Adam Pelliccio and Nick Pelliccio.

Friends may call at Laurel Hill Baptist Church, LaCamp, Louisiana on Monday, August 20, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m.
